Oscar Gloukh Stars as Ajax Dominates Willem in 5-1 Victory
Israeli midfielder Oscar Gloukh delivered his best performance of the season in the Dutch league on Tuesday, scoring once and providing an assist in Ajax's commanding 5-1 win over Willem. The victory propelled Ajax to fourth place in the standings, just three points behind the league leaders.
Gloukh, who has faced challenges early in the season, was not in the starting lineup for the previous league match but came off the bench to assist a goal. This time, he was back in the starting XI and displayed sharp play from the outset, consistently creating chances for himself and his teammates throughout the game.
Ajax took a 2-0 lead into halftime with goals from Davy Klaassen and Julian Rensch. In the second half, Gloukh took center stage. In the 69th minute, he made a clever pass to Viktor Tsygankov, who easily finished to give Gloukh his third assist of the season. Five minutes later, Gloukh scored his first league goal after a superb team move, finishing one-on-one. He nearly added to his tally with another goal or assist, but Kasper Dolberg sealed the 5-1 scoreline after Willem had scored a consolation goal.
Ajax and Gloukh will host Excelsior on Saturday in their final match before a lengthy international break, during which Gloukh is expected to represent his national team.
