Saada Saada and Marwan Abu Shaheen, both residents of northern Israel, were shot dead on Friday in the Golan Heights village of Buq'ata. Saada lived in Hurfeish, while Abu Shaheen lived in Buq'ata. Police opened an investigation into the killings, and the motive has not yet been confirmed.
The shooting was reported at 12:11 p.m. to Magen David Adom’s 101 dispatch center in the Jordan region. MDA medics and paramedics found the two men unconscious with penetrating gunshot wounds and evacuated them to Ziv Medical Center in Safed in critical condition. Hospital teams later pronounced both dead.
Emergency medic Raad Kallaani said responders found the victims lying unconscious, with no pulse and no breathing, and that they provided CPR and bleeding control before transporting them in intensive care ambulances. Police said the background and circumstances are under review.
MK Hamad Amar of Yisrael Beiteinu said the killings were linked to refusal to pay protection money, calling it evidence that “protection terror has become an uncontrollable plague.” He said ordinary citizens and business owners who refuse criminals and choose to follow the law are paying with their lives. Police have not confirmed that as the motive.
