Two men in their 40s, Saed Saed and Marwan Abu Shahin, were shot dead on Friday in Buqata in the Golan Heights, and their families were notified. Police said they opened an investigation, dispatched officers to the scene, and began searches for the shooters, adding that the motive and circumstances were still being examined.
According to the initial police assessment, Abu Shahin, a contractor and businessman who lived in the Druze town of Buqata, was likely the intended target of the gunmen. Saed, who lived in Hurfeish, is believed to have been caught in the area by chance.
Magen David Adom said paramedics arrived to find both victims lying unconscious, with no pulse or breathing and with gunshot wounds. Emergency medic Raed Kelaani said, "We reached the scene and saw the two injured lying unconscious, without a pulse or breathing, with gunshot injuries." He said crews carried out resuscitation efforts and stopped bleeding before evacuating them in intensive care ambulances to the hospital in critical condition.
Despite efforts by hospital teams, both were pronounced dead after arriving at the trauma unit. Police said the investigation is ongoing.
