Southern Command Chief Vows to Counter Falsehoods with Facts

Major General Yaniv Asor, commander of the IDF's Southern Command, stated that Israel will respond to slander with facts and honest answers, while also learning from and correcting any mistakes made by the military. Asor made these remarks during a ceremony marking the start of the Jewish New Year in the Eshkol Regional Council, attended by division and brigade commanders and leaders from the Western Negev region.

Speaking to the attendees, Asor recalled the events from nearly three years prior that initiated the current military campaign, emphasizing the unprecedented strain and resilience required of the nation. He asserted that the ongoing conflict demands fortitude, faith in their cause, and the defense of democratic values against terrorist threats.

The commander highlighted the military's strategic operations in the Gaza Strip, focused on dismantling Hamas's underground infrastructure and preventing the group from rebuilding its capabilities. He also stressed the importance of information security and public support.

Asor further stated that attempts to question the army's actions are aimed at undermining national unity, but the military will continue its mission to ensure the safety of residents in the southern regions. He added that if errors are found, the IDF will learn from them and make corrections.
