Richard Deitz Claims Jason Levien Not Party to Maccabi Tel Aviv Dispute
American businessman and part-owner Richard Deitz has issued a new statement regarding the ongoing control battle for the Maccabi Tel Aviv basketball club, specifically concerning the arbitration process. Deitz stated that his lawyer filed a new request with the Tel Aviv court on September 15, 2026.
The request was made because Udi Recanati and Shimon Mizrahi have unreasonably conditioned their agreement to appoint an arbitrator on Deitz's consent to include Jason Levien as a party to the future arbitration. Deitz argues this position is illogical, as Levien is not a signatory to the 2013 shareholders' agreement and Deitz has no contractual relationship with him. Furthermore, Deitz asserts Levien is not a party to this dispute.
Deitz explained that the commencement of the arbitration process has been delayed for four days due to this issue, which he attributes to the other side's stubbornness. Consequently, they are now seeking guidance from the court.
