Maccabi Tel Aviv Ownership Dispute: Richard Daetz Criticizes Opponents
American businessman and co-owner Richard Daetz has issued a new statement regarding the ongoing control struggles for the Maccabi Tel Aviv basketball club, specifically addressing the arbitration process. Daetz stated that his lawyer filed an additional request with the Tel Aviv court on September 15, 2026. This filing is a response to what Daetz described as an "unreasonable" demand by Shimon Mizrahi and Udi Recanati to include Jason Levin as a party to the future arbitration, which they conditioned on Daetz's agreement.
Daetz asserted that Mizrahi and Recanati's position is illogical, emphasizing that Levin is not a signatory to the 2013 shareholders' agreement and that Daetz has no contractual relationship with him. "He is not even a party to this dispute," Daetz wrote.
The arbitration process has reportedly been stalled for four days due to this issue, which Daetz attributes to the other side's "stubbornness." Consequently, Daetz's team is now seeking court guidance on the matter.
