Court Orders Verso to Pay Omer Adam and Opticana $800,000 Each

An Israeli court has ruled in a complex legal dispute involving the eyewear brand Verso, singer Omer Adam, and the Opticana chain, ordering Verso and its representative David Amar to pay a total of approximately $866,000 to Adam's company, P.A.I Production, and approximately $800,000 net to Opticana.

The legal battle originated from a 2018 agreement where Omer Adam was to become the brand ambassador for Verso in Israel, with profits to be shared equally. Later, an agreement was made with Opticana for a non-exclusive license to use the Verso trademark for marketing and sales in Israel. Verso claimed Opticana infringed on the brand's rights, used substandard materials, and produced unauthorized products, causing them an estimated $10 million in damages.

Opticana countered, stating the initial partnership failed due to lack of experience and that they received exclusive distribution rights, investing millions in advertising. They alleged that faulty inventory necessitated a new collection, and a subsequent tripartite agreement for Opticana to acquire a third of the brand's proprietary rights was reneged upon by Verso, leading to their claim for $13 million.

Omer Adam's company, P.A.I Production, also sued Verso and David Amar, alleging misrepresentation regarding Verso's experience and reputation. The court ultimately found in favor of P.A.I Production and Opticana, awarding them damages that, after accounting for mutual claims, resulted in Opticana receiving a net payment of $800,000 and P.A.I Production receiving $866,000 from Verso and David Amar.

Verso stated they are reviewing the court's decision. Opticana was represented by M. Firon & Co., while P.A.I Production was represented by Altshuler Law Firm.
