Israeli "Skyshrieker" Loitering Munition Impresses German Military

Israel and Germany are deepening their defense cooperation, particularly in response to European demand for autonomous weapon systems. Elbit Systems and Diel Defense recently demonstrated the "Skyshrieker" (also known as SkyStriker), a loitering munition capable of operating at ranges exceeding 200 kilometers and for over two hours. The demonstration, which included a successful simulated attack on a target after reconnaissance, highlighted the system's ability to integrate into complex intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) networks.

The Skyshrieker is an electric-powered, next-generation loitering munition designed for precise, long-range tactical strikes. Its low acoustic and thermal signature makes it difficult to detect. The system is intended to engage targets such as anti-aircraft batteries and enemy mobile formations. Its operational flexibility allows it to be launched from various platforms, including ground vehicles, containers, aircraft, and Euro-PULSE launchers, which are relevant to the German army and other European nations.

The collaboration between Diel Defense and Elbit Systems aims to meet the growing demand for advanced autonomous systems in Germany. Subject to winning relevant programs, the companies plan to establish production capabilities within Germany. Elbit Systems will lead business and strategic development, while Diel Defense will be responsible for manufacturing, assembly, integration, and certification in Germany.
