Elbit Systems and Dill Defense Showcase SkyStriker Loitering Munition in Germany

Elbit Systems and Dill Defense successfully demonstrated their SkyStriker loitering munition, known in Hebrew as 'Sharkrak', in Germany in early September 2026. The demonstration, part of a collaboration announced in June at the ILA exhibition in Berlin, showcased the system's capabilities. The SkyStriker was launched from a container, performed reconnaissance and surveillance, and successfully struck a simulated target. The companies also tested the system's operational range and endurance, with control successfully transferred over a distance of 80 kilometers.

The system demonstrated autonomous target acquisition, tracking, and high-precision strikes. During the demonstration, Elbit's SkyLark 1 eVTOL reconnaissance drone also participated, operating in conjunction with the SkyStriker for a joint reconnaissance and attack mission. This integration allows the SkyStriker to be connected to intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance systems.

The SkyStriker is an electric-powered, long-range precision strike munition. Elbit states it has a range exceeding 200 kilometers and can stay airborne for over two hours. Its electric motor reduces noise and heat signatures, making it harder to detect. The munition features high-resolution video reconnaissance and autonomous target tracking, enabling precise strikes with minimal collateral damage. It is already in operational use in several countries and can be launched from various platforms, including ground vehicles, containers, aircraft, and EuroPULS launchers, the latter being relevant for the German military and other European nations.

Gunnar Papert, Head of Ground Systems at Dill Defense, highlighted the successful demonstration as proof of the SkyStriker's technological maturity and versatility, emphasizing its synergy with modern army requirements and the potential for advanced local production in Germany to bolster European defense capabilities. Marian Rachow, CEO of Elbit Systems Germany, expressed enthusiasm for showcasing the SkyStriker's capabilities to various countries and noted its role as the standard for future long-range loitering munitions, marking a significant milestone for the system in Europe and its path toward German production.

The collaboration aims to meet Germany's growing demand for autonomous systems. If awarded relevant programs, local production facilities will be established in Germany, with Elbit Systems managing business and strategy, and Dill Defense overseeing production, integration, and certification within Germany.
