Coalition Chairman Calls to Revoke Citizenship for Filmmakers Critical of IDF
Coalition Chairman Ofir Katz joined Culture Minister Miki Zohar on Tuesday in calling to revoke the citizenship of filmmakers Yuval Avraham and Rachel Shore. The two are creators of a film that reportedly depicts IDF soldiers as murderers. In an interview with Kan News on Reshet Bet, Katz stated, "To say IDF soldiers are murderers? Only in Israel do they take freedom of expression and allow incitement against soldiers. This is what is done in the name of freedom of expression, in the name of democracy."
Katz's statement comes amid ongoing IDF operations in the Gaza Strip, where the military reported eliminating two commanders in Hamas's military wing. The IDF spokesperson's office stated that "prior to and during the strikes, measures were taken to minimize civilian harm as much as possible, including the use of precision munitions and aerial observation."
