New Platform Aims to Solve Israel's Parking Woes

A new online platform called "Henyonym" (henyonim.com) has been launched to address the persistent problem of finding parking and the high costs associated with it in Israel, particularly in the central region. Developed by Gilad Cohen-Tal, the website allows users to locate parking lots, compare prices, and check real-time occupancy and congestion data before arriving.

Cohen-Tal explained in an interview that a key advantage of the service is its accessibility; it is a website, not an app, and requires no registration. The platform analyzes occupancy data to provide alerts and forecasts, enabling drivers to plan their arrival times and choose alternative parking if necessary. "You can usually predict very well at what hour the parking lot will be full and at what hour it will not be full, so you can plan exactly when to arrive at the parking lot and be sure you will have a parking spot," Cohen-Tal stated.

The accuracy of the information on "Henyonym" relies on a "wisdom of the crowd" model, incorporating user-generated reports and updates from drivers, as well as input from parking lot owners themselves. This combination creates a dynamic, real-time database of prices and details. Cohen-Tal noted that the community actively updates the system, with users correcting prices and parking lot owners sometimes requesting updates to reflect competitive pricing from nearby facilities.
