Patriots Owner Kraft Cancels Rapper's Performance Over Antisemitism

Robert Kraft, owner of the New England Patriots and Gillette Stadium, has canceled rapper Macklemore's scheduled opening performances for Ed Sheeran's upcoming concerts at the stadium. Kraft stated that the decision was made due to Macklemore's recent actions and rhetoric, which he deemed antisemitic and harmful to the Jewish community.

Kraft explained that Gillette Stadium is committed to providing a welcoming environment for all guests and ensuring that events held there do not provide a platform for hate speech. He cited Macklemore's performances in New Jersey on September 4th and 5th, where the rapper expressed strong pro-Palestinian views, waved Palestinian flags, and performed a song describing Israeli actions as "genocide."

"The line has been crossed," Kraft said in a statement. "It is possible to stand with the Palestinians and at the same time oppose Hamas and antisemitism." He emphasized that his decision was not intended to diminish the suffering of innocent Palestinians or deny anyone the right to advocate for them, acknowledging their pain and loss as real.

However, Kraft stressed that advocacy for Palestinians should not come at the expense of the Jewish community or obscure the responsibility of Hamas, which he noted is designated as a terrorist organization globally and has caused immense suffering to both Palestinians and Israelis through its actions. Macklemore was slated to perform on September 25th and 26th.
