Patriots Owner Kraft Cancels Rapper's Performance Over Antisemitism

Robert Kraft, owner of the New England Patriots and Gillette Stadium, has barred rapper Macklemore from performing as an opening act for Ed Sheeran's upcoming concerts at the stadium. Kraft stated that the decision was made due to Macklemore's recent actions and past rhetoric, which he deemed antisemitic and harmful to the Jewish community.

Kraft, an 85-year-old Jewish man, explained in a statement that Gillette Stadium is committed to providing a welcoming environment and does not offer a platform for hate speech. He cited Macklemore's performances at MetLife Stadium on September 4th and 5th, where the rapper expressed strong pro-Palestinian views, waved Palestinian flags, and performed a song describing Israeli actions as "genocide."

"The line has been crossed," Kraft said. "It is possible to be supportive of the Palestinian people and to criticize Hamas and antisemitism." He emphasized that his decision was not intended to diminish the suffering of innocent Palestinians or deny anyone the right to advocate for them, acknowledging their pain and loss as real.

However, Kraft stressed that advocacy for Palestinians should not come at the expense of the Jewish community or obscure the responsibility of Hamas, a designated terrorist organization whose actions have caused immense suffering to both Palestinians and Israelis. Macklemore was scheduled to perform on September 25th and 26th at Gillette Stadium.
