NBA Analyst Suggests Dallas Mavericks as Potential Landing Spot for Deni Avdija

NBA analyst Sam Quinn of CBS Sports has identified the Dallas Mavericks as a potential suitor for Israeli basketball player Deni Avdija, should he become a free agent in 2028. Quinn noted that any team with salary cap flexibility would be highly interested in signing Avdija at age 27, describing him as "on the verge of being an All-NBA player." Quinn expressed concern that the Portland Trail Blazers, Avdija's current team, would face a "disaster" if they lost him for nothing. He also suggested that trading Avdija before the 2028 free agency, if a contract extension isn't possible, would also be a significant misstep for the team. Quinn had previously reported a strong possibility that Avdija might not remain with the Trail Blazers beyond his current contract, which is set to expire in the summer of 2028. Avdija is entering his third season with Portland and is coming off his first career playoff appearance last season alongside teammates Damian Lillard and Ja Morant.
