United Torah Judaism Faction Meets After Internal Upheaval

The Lithuanian party Degel HaTorah held its first joint meeting on Monday in Bnei Brak, bringing together veteran lawmakers and new candidates following a contentious internal shake-up. The gathering, aimed at preparing for the upcoming elections, saw the presence of both recently ousted Members of Knesset (MKs) Moshe Gafni and Uri Maklev, alongside new contenders for the party's list.

The meeting, titled "Initiation and Preparation for the Elections," was held at the Degel HaTorah headquarters. According to a party announcement, participants included new candidates such as the incoming chairman of Degel HaTorah and Yahadut HaTorah, MK Yaakov Asher, MK Yitzhak Pindrus, Moshe Rosenthal, Yehuda Visfish, David Zaltz, David Ohana, and Eliyahu Brochi.

Also in attendance were veteran representatives, including the chairman of the Degel HaTorah movement, MK Moshe Gafni, and management member MK Uri Maklev. Other attendees mentioned were Yitzhak Reich, head of the municipal department Menachem Shapira, and party manager Moshe Shipman.

The participants discussed strategies for the upcoming 26th Knesset elections and methods to mobilize voters for the joint list of Yahadut HaTorah, which will include Agudat Yisrael and MK Meir Porush's new party.
