Hadassah Ben Ari Announces New Book About Divorce

Two years after her divorce, Hadassah Ben Ari has shared a deeply personal post about her recent experiences, revealing she is writing a new book.

Ben Ari admitted that for a long time, she struggled to even use words related to divorce, humorously noting it could be a Guinness World Record for the time it took her to say 'divorced' or 'divorce.' She explained that people had approached her asking her to write about divorcées of reservists, wounded soldiers, or 'just' divorcées, but she initially felt she had nothing to say.

However, Ben Ari stated that the project took a different turn, with an "audacious hand" guiding her to the keyboard to begin writing a book. The central character is a divorced woman, whom Ben Ari insists is not directly based on her own story, but who grapples with similar questions about love, navigating a "weary world" as a couple, and overcoming childhood wounds.

She described the book's characters as dealing with a "shaking emotional inheritance" and admitted that they don't always succeed in healing. Ben Ari also reflected on the persistent question of why people separate and divorce, acknowledging she has much to say but may never be able to share it publicly. She also criticized the tendency to label her work as that of a "divorced woman," while simultaneously admitting a personal truth that "a woman without a man is incomplete in the world."
