Author Hadassa Ben-Ari Shares Painful Reflections on Grief and Personal Growth
Author and journalist Hadassa Ben-Ari has shared an emotional and revealing monologue with her followers, connecting the painful loss of her grandfather with her current personal life challenges following her separation from her ex-husband and the father of her seven children, Hanan Ben Ari.
Ben-Ari recounted the final days of her grandfather, Avigdor, who passed away due to a medical complication. She described visiting him in the hospital before the High Holidays, noting his soft eyes and a compliment he gave her that she still remembers vividly. Despite his strength, he complained of stomach pain, which doctors initially dismissed as age-related. However, when kidney stones were discovered, it was deemed too late.
She further disclosed that a surgery to remove the stones led to complications due to human error, specifically touching his pancreas. This resulted in a slow but clear systemic collapse, leading to his death. Ben-Ari emphasized that her grandfather, far from being frail, was vibrant, always singing, helping the elderly, and pursuing his dreams, and that he continues to live on in her life.
Amidst her deep grief, Ben-Ari described a process of seeking hope and growth. Walking in a field, she felt a sense of promise for the new year and reflected on how exposed nerves, capable of feeling despair, can also feel hope. Inspired by the book "The Renewal of the Soul," which discusses post-traumatic growth, she reached out to its author, Dr. Roi Horn, thanking him for contributing to her healing. Ben-Ari stated she is reading the book not as a professional but as a child seeking healing, navigating a personal 'desert' towards a 'lighthouse' of hope.
She is currently undergoing a personal healing process within her new life reality, seeking to overcome the challenges she faces.
