Israeli Muay Thai Fighters Win World Championship Gold Medals

Israeli Muay Thai fighters Shir Cohen and Maksim Bernis have won gold medals at the World Championships held in Kosovo. President Isaac Herzog spoke with the athletes on Monday, congratulating them on their achievements and praising their determination and excellence. "I thank you for representing the State of Israel with honor and pride," Herzog stated, highlighting their success as a source of great pride for the nation.

Cohen secured the world championship title in the under 51 kg weight class, defeating an opponent from Vietnam in the finals after a series of impressive victories throughout the tournament. Bernis claimed the gold medal in the under 71 kg category, knocking out his opponent from Kazakhstan in the first round of their final match.

President Herzog emphasized that winning a gold medal in the name of Israel is a significant accomplishment. He commended Cohen and Bernis for their professionalism, determination, and pursuit of excellence, which led to the Israeli flag being raised and the national anthem being played twice during the competition in Kosovo.
