Israel Shells Southern Lebanon Towns; Lebanese Army Denies Deployment Plan
The Israeli military continued shelling various areas in southern Lebanon on Monday, targeting the outskirts of several towns with artillery and heavy machine gun fire. The Lebanese National News Agency reported that the shelling hit the edges of the towns of Shaqra, Baraashit, Arnoun, Wadi al-Slouqi, and Nabatieh al-Fawqa. Israeli forces also fired towards the town of Beit Yahoun, following overnight shelling that targeted the outskirts of Hadata.
These developments occur amidst ongoing violations of the ceasefire agreement that was signed in June. The Israeli military's actions represent a continuation of cross-border hostilities.
In a related matter, a Lebanese military source denied reports circulating about a plan to deploy the Lebanese army to the Ali al-Taher hill and its surroundings. The source affirmed that the army is continuing its patrols and reinforcing its presence in the Nabatieh areas under its control.
