Suspect in 10-Year-Old's Kidnapping Remains in Custody

A Petah Tikva court extended the arrest of Yigal Buskila, 19, from Jerusalem, for three days on suspicion of kidnapping 10-year-old Yahli Sofer. The judge rejected the defense's request for house arrest, ordering Buskila to remain in custody until Wednesday. Details revealed during the hearing indicated the child cried in a shelter and asked to leave, but Buskila prevented him from doing so. The suspect reportedly does not deny the incident.

Police are continuing their investigation, with prosecutors providing guidance on further inquiries into the main incident and other alleged offenses. Buskila is also suspected in three other cases, including alleged harassment and threats against two minors in Hadera, and threats and possession of a knife against a minor in Arad. Despite his identity being released, no new complaints have been filed.

Buskila's attorney requested house arrest, citing his client's difficult mental state and his mother's willingness to supervise him. She stated he has been living in shelters recently and occasionally asking for money. The mother confirmed he has been staying in shelters and seeking funds but insisted she and her husband could monitor him. The judge denied the request, expecting a prosecutor's statement or indictment by the next hearing, which could mark a significant turning point in the case.
