American Defense Firm Ondas Acquires Israeli Explosives Tech Company

American defense holding company Ondas has announced the acquisition of Israel's GATE Technologies, a specialist in the development, production, and licensing of electronic fuzing systems. The deal also includes GATE's European manufacturing, certification, and distribution partner, Bron Technologies. The initial purchase price for GATE is $205 million, with potential additional payments of up to $185 million contingent on achieving performance targets by the end of 2028, bringing the total potential deal value to $390 million.

This acquisition significantly expands Ondas's presence in the precision strike systems sector. It also enhances the company's expertise in explosive components utilized in weapon systems for unmanned platforms. GATE develops electronic fuzing systems and electronic safe and arm devices, which are integrated into numerous weapon systems globally, including missiles, rockets, drones, and loitering munitions.

These fuzing systems are designed to ensure munitions remain safe during storage, transport, and launch, activating only after specific pre-set conditions are met. The acquisition of GATE follows a pattern of strategic moves by Ondas in the defense industry, including previous acquisitions of Israeli and British companies. Over the past year, Ondas has broadened its defense portfolio through acquisitions in areas such as drones, electronic defense systems, air defense, robotics, and counter-drone technologies.
