Ondas Buys Israeli Firm Gate Technologies for $205 Million

American holding group Ondas continues its acquisition spree in the defense industry, entering the fuse sector with the purchase of Israeli company Gate Technologies and its Polish partner Bron Technologies for approximately $205 million. These companies specialize in developing and manufacturing electronic fuses and munitions retention devices, crucial components integrated into numerous weapon systems including missiles, rockets, drones, and loitering munitions, ensuring safe storage until deployment.

Ondas stated that an additional $185 million could be added to the deal's value. While Ondas's previous acquisitions focused on ground robotics and autonomous drones, this move signifies a strategic expansion into the core of the munitions value chain. This diversification occurs amidst record global demand for defense products, with the fuse market projected to reach over $13 billion by 2030. The acquisition of Bron Technologies is expected to provide Ondas with an operational base in Europe, a continent actively rearming since the Russia-Ukraine war began.

The fuse sector is characterized by high entry barriers and relative concentration. Ondas Global Chairman and CEO Eric Brock highlighted the growing demand for precise and autonomous strike systems, expressing the company's intent to invest in production capacity, engineering, and international expansion. Since early 2026, Ondas has acquired around ten defense companies and startups, primarily in Israel.

Ondas's portfolio now comprises about 20 companies acquired since 2025 for over $2 billion. Late last year, the company raised approximately $1 billion from an undisclosed investor, a transaction that prompted an investigation by the Ministry of Defense. This follows Ondas's attempt to acquire Amparex, a developer of control units for the Iron Dome missile defense system, which is considered a classified asset. The Ministry of Defense has not disclosed the results of its review.

Recently, Dadi Barnea, former head of the Mossad, was appointed Global Chairman and President of Ondas. Ondas Israel is led by Oshri Lugasi, former Chief Engineer of the IDF and VP of Sales at Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, who is considered the driving force behind Ondas's acquisition strategy. The company also employs several other former senior executives from Rafael and the Ministry of Defense's research and development division.
