Deputy Mayor of Rishon LeZion Re-questioned in Sexual Assault Probe

The Deputy Mayor of Rishon LeZion, who is suspected of rape, indecent acts, threats, and witness tampering, was re-questioned by police days after resuming his duties. According to sources familiar with the investigation, no significant new evidence was added during these supplementary questioning sessions. The investigation currently relies primarily on the complainant's account versus the suspect's.

One of the suspicions examined involved an alleged confrontation between the deputy mayor and the complainant, an employee of the Rishon LeZion municipality. He is suspected of making threats against her during this encounter. The deputy mayor has denied all allegations, including the rape accusations.

The investigation file is expected to be transferred to the Central District Prosecutor's Office in the coming days for a decision on further proceedings. The current assessment is that the investigation has not uncovered substantial new evidence.

Meanwhile, the Rishon LeZion Municipality's Human Resources Director informed the complainant that she may return to her position. The municipality offered to implement measures to prevent contact between her and the deputy mayor, both professionally and geographically within the city hall building. Alternatively, she was offered a different role within the municipality that aligns with her skills, considering her personal situation and feelings. The municipality stated it has been providing continuous support to the employee, including assistance with private treatments.

It is emphasized that these are only suspicions, and the deputy mayor denies all accusations against him. The prosecutor's office has not yet made a decision regarding the case.
