Deputy Mayor Under Investigation for Sex Offenses, Threatening Complainant

The deputy mayor of Rishon Lezion, who is suspected of sexual offenses, is now being investigated on suspicion of threatening the complainant, an employee of the municipality. The senior official was questioned last Wednesday regarding statements he allegedly made to the complainant during a police confrontation. The deputy mayor, whose name is currently under gag order, faces allegations of rape and indecent acts, which he denies.

A court hearing is scheduled for September 24th at the Rishon Lezion Magistrate's Court to discuss a request by Kan News to publish his name. Despite the serious accusations, including threats, the deputy mayor returned to his position at the municipality last week after restrictive conditions on his bail expired. He reportedly works on the same floor as the complainant, who has not yet returned to work.

Following his arrest, the complainant was on sick leave. She now seeks to return to work and establish procedures to ensure her safe return, minimizing contact with the deputy mayor. The official is known to be close to Mayor Raz Kinstlich, who attended his initial remand extension hearing.

The Rishon Lezion Municipality stated that it cannot comment on the details of the ongoing investigation but will cooperate fully with law enforcement. The municipality also confirmed it is providing sensitive support and tailored solutions to the complainant, offering her protected work alternatives according to her wishes. The deputy mayor's attorney declined to comment.
