Insurance Firm Continued Charging Deceased Israeli Woman for Nearly Three Years
The Israeli insurance company Migdal continued to deduct monthly premiums from the account of Libi Cohen-Meguri, who was killed on October 7, 2023, during the Hamas attack on the Nova music festival. Her mother, Shelly Mashal-Yogev, told Kan Bet radio that the company kept charging for disability and long-term care insurance even after her daughter's death.
The family contacted Migdal, which promised to refund the money, but several months passed without the reimbursement occurring. Kan Bet reached out to the company for comment.
Approximately an hour later, Migdal issued an apology to the family for the distress caused. The company stated that it had voluntarily stopped collecting insurance payments from all victims of terrorist attacks after the war began, but an error occurred in Libi's case due to human error. "We take full responsibility for the mistake. All payments have been canceled. A company representative will contact the family shortly," Migdal said in its response to the radio station.
