Syria Claims 150 Days of Israeli Violations Since Early 2026
Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad stated that Israel continues to violate Syria's sovereignty, asserting that recent Israeli airstrikes on Abu al-Duhur airport extend beyond military targets to undermine the Syrian state-building process. Speaking at a press conference in Damascus on Sunday with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan, Mekdad emphasized Syria's pursuit of a security agreement to end Israeli aggressions and secure the withdrawal of Israeli forces to pre-December 8, 2024 lines. An analysis by Anadolu Agency, based on reports from the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), indicates a sustained pattern of Israeli violations. The Israeli military allegedly committed violations on at least 150 out of 256 days from January 1 to September 14, 2026. These incidents included incursions, shelling, arrests, and the demolition of facilities. The count reflects the number of days with violations, not the total number of attacks, as some days saw multiple events across different provinces.
The data, limited to reviewed reports, details specific incidents. In January, violations occurred on at least 15 days, including the demolition of structures in Old Quneitra, such as the Golan Hospital and Al-Andalus Cinema, and the shelling of agricultural areas. February saw 16 days of violations, including Israeli troop incursions in southern Quneitra and Yarmouk Basin, and the arrest of six young men. March recorded the highest number of documented violation days at 21, with reports of Israeli forces arresting children in Quneitra. In April, 20 days of violations were documented, including the death of a young man by an Israeli tank shell and the fortification of Tel al-Ahmar East. May had 19 days of reported Israeli aggressions, including incursions into Jebata al-Khashab and shelling near Taranja. June saw 19 days of Israeli violations, with forces raiding villages in the Yarmouk Basin and setting up checkpoints. July had 20 days of violations, including incursions towards Tel al-Ahmar East and the dropping of sound bombs by drones. August recorded 12 days of violations, including strikes on Abu al-Duhur military airport and a drone strike in Beit Jinn. By September 14, there were 8 days of violations, including artillery shelling and the arrest of shepherds.
Quneitra province experienced the most frequent violations, with repeated ground incursions and attacks on villages, the old city, and surrounding areas. In Daraa, violations were concentrated in the western countryside, particularly the Yarmouk Basin. Western Damascus countryside saw shelling incidents around Beit Jinn. Mekdad reiterated Damascus's commitment to diplomatic confrontation and the 1974 disengagement agreement, while continuing to rebuild the nation.
