Israeli Soccer Player Or Blorian Recounts Life-Saving Heart Procedure

Israeli soccer player Or Blorian, 26, has described his recent emergency heart procedure in Kansas City as a "miracle." Blorian, who was a standout defender for Hapoel Be'er Sheva's championship team last season and a key player for the Israeli national team, recently moved to the MLS league. He began experiencing symptoms like dizziness, leg heaviness, and weakness for about a month, initially attributing them to poor fitness.

In the days leading up to a match on September 6th, Blorian felt increasing difficulty during training sessions and began experiencing severe chest pains. He alerted the team's medical staff, who conducted initial tests. An electrocardiogram and blood tests revealed minor abnormalities, prompting the team doctor to recommend a consultation with a cardiologist.

The cardiologist's examination indicated concerning results, leading to Blorian being admitted to the hospital for observation. During his stay, further tests revealed a critical blockage in his artery. Doctors determined an immediate cardiac catheterization was necessary. The procedure successfully opened the significant blockage, which Blorian believes saved his life.

Blorian was discharged from the hospital just before the Rosh Hashanah holiday. His wife was with him, and his parents traveled from Israel to be by his side. He expressed gratitude for the timely intervention and the support he received from Israel. Due to the medical event, Blorian will be unable to play for the remainder of the MLS season. He is currently on blood thinners and will gradually return to light training. His club, Sporting Kansas City, has stated he will remain with the team for the next two seasons.
