Senior Police Officer Injured in Accidental Shooting at Lahav 433 Headquarters
A senior police officer sustained a minor hand injury on Monday morning in an unusual incident at the Lahav 433 national crime unit headquarters in Lod. The officer, who heads a department within the unit combating serious and international crime, was wounded by an accidental discharge from his personal firearm.
The incident occurred around 9:00 AM when a gunshot was heard from one of the offices. Emergency medical services were immediately dispatched to the scene and provided initial treatment. The officer was then transported to Sheba Medical Center at Tel HaShomer in light condition.
An investigation into the circumstances of the shooting has been launched by the police. In accordance with standard procedure for such incidents, the incident has also been reported to the Police Internal Investigations Department (Mahash). A police spokesperson stated, "An officer at Lahav was lightly injured as a result of an accidental discharge. In accordance with Israel Police procedures, a report was transferred to Mahash, and upon their approval, an investigating officer will be appointed to the incident."
