A statement from his office said, “As the vice president said at his press conference, the plans for the upcoming technical talks have not yet been completed, and the American delegation was prepared to depart at the earliest opportunity that would become available, but the logistics of these negotiations were never simple or predictable. At this point, the vice president is not leaving tonight.”
The cancellation affects the vice president’s expected travel to Switzerland for the Iran discussions, but no new departure time or revised schedule was announced. The statement did not say whether the talks themselves would be delayed or proceed without him.
