AIG Israel Workers Escalate Strike, Citing Management Threats

Employees at AIG Israel have escalated their strike, halting all company operations, including sales, customer service, and claims departments, as well as headquarters functions. The industrial action, which began before the Rosh Hashanah holiday, continued on Monday with the complete shutdown of the service division, encompassing car, apartment, and mortgage services, operations, and the availability team. Workers are neither reporting to offices nor working remotely, effectively paralyzing the entire company.

This escalation follows a breakdown in negotiations between AIG management and the workers' committee and the Histadrut labor federation. The talks, aimed at establishing a new collective labor agreement, have been ongoing for nearly a year without reaching any consensus.

Tomer Malul, chairman of the AIG workers' committee, stated that instead of engaging in effective negotiations, management is resorting to threats of salary deductions. "This did not work in the past and will not work today," Malul said. He added that the workers are prepared to freeze their sanctions once management enters into genuine negotiations with the intention of reaching a new agreement.
