Young Woman Critically Injured in Negev Shooting Amidst Rising Arab Community Violence

A 22-year-old woman was critically injured overnight in a shooting incident in the Negev region of southern Israel. Paramedics treated her at the scene before transporting her to Soroka Hospital in Beersheba, where she is in an unstable condition and has a clouded consciousness. The incident occurred in the Bedouin town of Um Batin.

This shooting follows a series of violent events within the Arab community. Just days prior, three young men from Jaljulia were found dead in a car that had caught fire near Baqa al-Gharbiyya. The victims were identified as cousins Yazan (16) and Qassem Odeh (20), and their relative Yahya Bassam (22).

The father of Yahya Bassam expressed his grief and frustration, stating his son was a good, quiet child with no known conflicts. He recounted spending the previous day with his son at a wedding before the young men went out. "We don't want to keep counting the murdered. The state and the government have finished us," he lamented, calling for peace.

Earlier in the week, a 14-year-old boy was seriously wounded by gunfire in Kafr Kanna in the Lower Galilee, and a 16-year-old boy suffered a severe gunshot wound in Jaljulia, requiring transport to Meir Hospital in Kfar Saba. The police have opened an investigation into the suspected triple murder in the Sharon region.
