Two Injured in Stairwell Fire in Tirat Carmel Apartment Building

Two people sustained minor injuries early this morning following a fire that broke out in a residential building on Ha'Narkissim Street in Tirat Carmel. Fire and rescue teams from the Haifa station were dispatched to the scene in the early morning hours after receiving a report of fire and smoke in the building. Upon arrival, firefighters determined the fire's origin was in electrical cabinets located in the stairwell on the third and fourth floors of the building. Most residents had already evacuated the building before the firefighters arrived, while smoke accumulated in the stairwell area. Due to the electrical cabinets still being live, firefighters had to proceed cautiously and use appropriate extinguishing methods. The teams used extinguishers, quickly brought the fire under control, and then worked to ventilate the smoke from the building. The incident commander, Fire Chief Shi Ben Simon, reported that the first team on the scene found the electrical cabinets burning on the upper floors of the stairwell. He stated that the forces' swift action prevented the fire from spreading and allowed for the completion of firefighting operations in a short time. During the incident, it was discovered that one man was injured before the fire crews arrived. Simultaneously, a woman who remained in her apartment and did not evacuate independently was assisted out of the building by firefighters. Both injured individuals were evacuated for medical treatment, with their conditions described as mild. After gaining control of the fire, rescue forces continued to ventilate and clear smoke from the building to ensure a safe return to routine and to confirm no further ignition sources remained.
