Netanyahu Rejects Kushner's Account of Qatar Strike, Cites Deal's Success

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, through his Likud party, has responded to comments made by Jared Kushner, former US President Donald Trump's envoy, regarding a failed assassination attempt in Doha, Qatar. Kushner had claimed the operation was an operational failure that pressured Hamas into accepting a hostage deal.

According to the Likud party's statement, it was Prime Minister Netanyahu's decision to enter Gaza and attack Hamas leaders in Qatar, coupled with significant pressure from President Trump, that compelled Hamas to drop its demands and agree to release the remaining hostages. Kushner, speaking via video conference from Malta, described the strike as an "operational failure that led to isolation," adding that "we used this dynamic to push them toward a deal."

Kushner's remarks come amid ongoing tensions between the Trump administration and the Israeli government concerning the implementation of a peace plan for the Gaza Strip. The White House has been pressuring Israel to advance the disarmament of Hamas and the reconstruction of infrastructure in Gaza.

During a recent four-hour meeting with Netanyahu, Kushner discussed efforts to promote the peace plan. An agreement was reached that no reconstruction in Gaza would occur without the complete disarmament of Hamas, with the initial step involving Hamas surrendering all weapons for destruction under the supervision of General Jeffries.
