Elite Border Police Fighter Dies in Haifa; Circumstances Under Investigation
The Israel Police and Border Police announced the death of Master Sergeant First Class Itai Peretz, a 23-year-old Yamam unit fighter from Haifa. Peretz went to Students Beach in Haifa on Thursday afternoon, and contact was lost with him that evening. His body was discovered shortly before the announcement.
The circumstances surrounding his death are currently under investigation. Peretz, who hailed from Haifa, joined the Border Police in January 2023 after beginning a pilot's course. He completed a special forces course and was assigned to the National Counter-Terrorism Unit (Yamam). He enlisted for permanent service in December 2025. He is survived by his parents, four siblings, and his partner.
