A 20-year-old woman filed a complaint with police on Thursday morning, saying she was sexually assaulted in the local council area of Azor while walking near her home. According to her account, a man had been waiting for her, followed her down the street, then attacked her. Security camera footage collected in the investigation reportedly shows the suspect walking behind her, approaching her, hugging her against her will, and trying to kiss her. When he failed, he fled the scene.
Police opened an investigation after the complaint was received and said investigators are now working to identify the suspect and arrest him. The probe is ongoing.
The report was published alongside another case from last month, when the Beersheba District Court filed an indictment against Pawan Kumar Chaurasia, a foreign worker and Indian citizen, over an indecent act involving a 16-year-old girl in Kiryat Gat. According to the indictment, on 22 April 2026, late at night, the girl was walking home from Independence Day events on a path leading to Park HaShofetim while holding her phone.
The indictment says Chaurasia approached her and snatched the phone, then grabbed her shoulders with both hands and threw her onto a dirt area beside the path. It further alleges that he lay on top of her, bit her head behind her left ear, and kissed her on the mouth. When she screamed, he allegedly grabbed her face tightly and covered her mouth, until she bit his hand, forcing him to let go.
