IDF Soldier Filmed Shooting Palestinian Near Jenin; Military Investigating
An Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldier was filmed shooting a Palestinian man in the leg from a distance near the village of Fiqou, close to Jenin. The Palestinian man was reportedly standing still when the shooting occurred.
The IDF spokesperson issued a statement acknowledging the incident but did not explain the unusual shooting or state that the Palestinian posed a threat. The statement said, "Earlier, a report was received about friction between Israeli civilians and Palestinians, near the village of Fiqou in the Menashe Brigade area. An IDF force at the location fired into the air and at a Palestinian. The incident is being investigated by commanders and its findings will be transferred for examination by the authorized bodies."
The incident took place in the Menashe Brigade area, which covers parts of the northern West Bank.
