Iran May Escalate Regional Tensions Ahead of US Midterm Elections

Tehran is reportedly under significant pressure due to a severe economic crisis and diminished leverage, while also recognizing that increased political and economic pressure on the Trump administration could narrow its options for dealing with Iran.

This period is considered highly sensitive for Israel, especially with upcoming holidays. Iran appears to be facing a difficult situation, losing the Strait of Hormuz as a significant pressure point and grappling with its economic woes. Simultaneously, Iran may see this as a chance to escalate and improve its position for any future agreement.

The U.S. is also feeling the impact of the crisis as the midterms approach, with historically high fuel prices adding to political pressure on the administration. In recent days, there has been a noticeable increase in the boldness and frequency of Iranian attacks.

Indications of Iran's potential actions are emerging from the conflict in Yemen, where a significant escalation by the Houthi rebels has occurred, bringing them within approximately 80 kilometers of the Bab al-Mandab strait. While the Houthis are carrying out these actions, Iran is believed to be directing them, potentially in exchange for financial aid and weaponry, according to Iranian sources and indications.

Pakistan has conveyed a warning from Saudi Arabia to Iran, urging it to restrain Houthi attacks within the Kingdom. Pakistan's Defense Minister warned that continued attacks could trigger a defense pact between Pakistan, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia, drawing these nations into the conflict.
