Maged Al-Krum Residents Reject Settlement Outpost in Al-Russ Area

The committee and council noted that while some of the land is designated for "Keren Kayemeth" or the Land Authority, a significant portion of the Al-Russ area is privately owned by Maged Al-Krum residents.
Developments at the site, including the installation of a water line, the erection of tents and buildings, and the continued presence of individuals from the group, are escalating the situation. Those present reportedly came from a West Bank settlement, increasing fears that the temporary presence could become a permanent fixture. Concerns are also heightened by the possibility that members of the "Hilltop Youth" group are involved, potentially leading to harassment of local landowners attempting to access and work their fields.
The approaching olive harvest season amplifies these anxieties, as landowners need continuous access to their properties. The committee and council warned that any tensions or harassment could directly impede agricultural activities. They linked these developments to broader official plans aimed at strengthening Jewish settlement in the Galilee, citing a ten-year plan discussed at a conference in Karmiel in July, which included Minister of National Infrastructure, Energy and Water Israel Katz.
The Maged Al-Krum authorities view the outpost not as a transient presence but as an attempt to impose a new reality on the ground, potentially infringing on property rights and access for local residents. They are questioning the legal and administrative basis for the reported approval by the Misgav Regional Council and the local planning committee, especially given the land ownership claims of Maged Al-Krum residents.
In response, the Popular Committee and Local Council have vowed to pursue legal and administrative actions to prevent the outpost from becoming permanent. They have communicated with Maged Al-Krum residents, particularly landowners, assuring them that the issue will be closely monitored and addressed through official channels.
