Police Ban Banners for Tel Aviv Derby, Angering Maccabi Fans

Israeli police have decided to prohibit the entry of banners into the upcoming Tel Aviv derby match between Maccabi Tel Aviv and Hapoel Tel Aviv, scheduled for Monday. The decision has drawn sharp criticism from "Maccabi Fanatics," a prominent fan organization for Maccabi Tel Aviv.

In a statement released on Friday, the fan group accused the police of repeatedly targeting football supporters. "The Israel Police, for the umpteenth time, proves that the only thing it knows how to do is fight and harm football fans," the statement read. "Ahead of the upcoming derby, it has decided to start its usual circus and not approve banners. This is a disregard for an entire organization that invested and worked long nights, with money you (the fans) donated, and especially for the best show in the city of Tel Aviv."

The organization vowed to rally supporters despite the ban, stating, "We will not let them ruin our madness and excitement! The strongest display will be a Bloomfield Stadium full of strong yellow that will push Maccabi all the way to victory! Enjoy the holiday and prepare yourselves for war! Happy New Year, Maccabi Tel Aviv!"

The derby is not only a heated rivalry but also a top-of-the-table clash. Maccabi Tel Aviv currently leads the league with a perfect 9 points from 9, while Hapoel Tel Aviv is second with 7 points after three rounds.
