Far-Right Activist Urges Ex-General Winter to Run for Office

Far-right activist Baruch Marzel has called on former IDF General Yom-Tov "Ofer" Winter to run for the Knesset, despite Marzel's stated intention not to vote for Winter and his disagreement with Winter's potential candidates. Marzel posted on social media platform X, urging Winter to "run" and criticizing those who warn Winter will not pass the electoral threshold, accusing them of trying to sabotage his candidacy.

Marzel argued that Winter deserves a chance to compete because he has public support. He questioned the motives of those who raised the electoral threshold, suggesting they are now using it to undermine Winter's chances. "Who raised the electoral threshold? Who created this obstacle? And why are you now complaining about someone trying to compete?" Marzel asked.

He further accused opponents of deliberately working against Winter, claiming they are "doing everything to bury him politically" by telling the public he won't pass the threshold and trying to frame his candidacy as a "waste of votes." Marzel suggested that these critics might later blame Winter for lost votes after actively trying to prevent his success.

Marzel concluded that the fear expressed by Winter's critics is not about Winter's success, but about the potential shift in their own voter base. "No, you are not afraid he will pass. The problem is not Winter. The problem is that you know your public no longer votes automatically according to your instructions," he wrote.
