Likud MK Warns Independent Run by Gen. Winter Will Cost Right-Wing Bloc Power
Member of Knesset Avichai Boaron of the Likud party launched a sharp attack on Brigadier General (res.) Ofer Winter on Sunday, warning that an independent political run by Winter could cost the right-wing bloc the government.
Speaking on the radio program "Kol Barama" with Yaki Adamker and Yisrael Cohen, Boaron stated that Winter is "burning votes" for the right and will not pass the electoral threshold. "If he submits his list alone, we will act to explain the danger to the public and crush him so we don't lose votes," Boaron declared.
The Likud MK's comments come amid speculation about Winter's potential political ambitions and his consideration of forming his own party. Boaron's strong opposition suggests a deep concern within the Likud that any splintering of the right-wing vote could lead to a loss of seats and potentially hand the government to the opposition.
