Israel's Foreign Minister Invites Fugitive Suspect to Slovenia Embassy Opening

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar invited Israel Einhorn, a man linked to several criminal investigations including the "Qatargate" and "Bild" affairs, to an official ceremony for the opening of Israel's embassy in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The invitation was extended despite Einhorn being considered a fugitive with an active arrest warrant.

According to a report in the Israeli newspaper "Haaretz," Einhorn, who is wanted by Israeli police, attended the embassy inauguration ceremony which took place the previous day. Sa'ar's office confirmed Einhorn's invitation, stating that he "contributed and contributes to Israel-Slovenia relations" and was therefore invited to the event.

This is not the first time Einhorn has attended an official Israeli event despite his legal troubles. He previously participated in a ceremony at the Israeli embassy in the United States, which was attended by Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana.

Einhorn is a central suspect in the "Qatargate" affair, which involves allegations of corruption related to Qatar. He is also reportedly involved in the "Bild" affair, concerning the theft and leaking of classified documents to foreign media. Additionally, he faces charges in a separate case involving the alleged harassment of a state witness, although proceedings were delayed due to his failure to appear in court. In January, Israeli police confirmed an outstanding arrest warrant against him.
