Pro-Palestinian Group Seeks Arrest of Israeli Foreign Minister in Slovenia
A pro-Palestinian non-governmental organization, the Hind Rajab Foundation, has filed a complaint with the Ljubljana District Prosecutor's Office and Slovenian police seeking the arrest of Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar. The foundation accuses Saar of responsibility for war crimes, genocide, and torture in the Gaza Strip. They allege that Saar, as a member of Israel's war cabinet, was involved in formulating and publicly defending decisions related to the war in Gaza.
The organization has urged Slovenian authorities to launch an official investigation and take measures to hold Saar accountable. The complaint was submitted just before Saar's planned visit to Slovenia, where he is scheduled to attend the opening of a new Israeli embassy in Ljubljana. According to Slovenian media, the visit is set for September 9-10. Saar's official schedule includes a meeting with Slovenian Foreign Minister Tone Kajzer on September 9. The Israeli minister is expected to arrive with an economic delegation.
