Israel's Foreign Minister Invites Fugitive Suspect to Slovenia Embassy Opening

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar invited Israel Einhorn, a man considered a fugitive suspect in several criminal cases, to attend the official opening ceremony of the Israeli embassy in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The report, published by Haaretz, stated that Einhorn, against whom an arrest warrant is outstanding, was invited to the event that took place on Thursday.

Sa'ar's office confirmed the invitation, stating that Einhorn "contributed and contributes to Israel-Slovenia relations and was indeed invited to the embassy opening event." This is not the first time Einhorn has attended an official Israeli event abroad; he previously participated in an Israeli embassy ceremony in the United States, which was attended by Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana.

Einhorn is a central suspect in the "Qatargate" affair, which was exposed by Channel 12 News, and is also linked to the "Bild" affair, involving the theft and leaking of classified documents to foreign media. He was also indicted in a case involving the harassment of state witness Shlomo Filber, though proceedings were later delayed because Einhorn failed to appear in court to testify.

Despite these allegations and an ongoing arrest warrant, Einhorn was invited to the embassy ceremony. In January, the Israeli Police announced that an arrest warrant remained active against him. He had undergone a deposition in August 2025.
