Or Yehuda Inaugurates New Unit for Emotional and Rehabilitative Support

The city of Or Yehuda officially opened a new facility for its psychological-educational service unit yesterday, aiming to expand emotional and therapeutic support for residents. The new complex, part of the Education Department's psychological-educational service (Shf"a), will provide comprehensive care, guidance, diagnosis, and support for children, parents, and families facing distress, medical crises, illnesses, and trauma.

The inauguration ceremony was led by Dr. Ronit Geller, director of the psychological service, and attended by Mayor Liath Shohat, her deputies, the city treasurer, and directors from the Education and Maintenance departments. Representatives from the Ministry of Education, the Tel Aviv district psychologist, a doctor from the rehabilitation unit at Sheba Medical Center, and a Health Ministry representative were also present, alongside the psychological team and guests.

Mayor Shohat emphasized that residents' mental well-being is a top priority and that the municipality is committed to making professional services accessible locally. She stated that the unit's establishment reflects a commitment to community resilience, as mental stability is fundamental to education. Shohat pledged continued investment to ensure no family faces crises alone.

The unit operates on a holistic approach, viewing children within their family, educational, and community systems. It offers short and long-term treatments, parental guidance, and direct connections to educational frameworks. To ensure seamless care, the unit collaborates closely with the rehabilitation unit at Sheba Medical Center, Tel Hashomer.

Dalila Ashkenazi, director of the Education Department, highlighted the facility's focus on early intervention and community-based services. Dr. Ronit Geller concluded that the unit provides families with a strong support system and a secure foundation for recovery and returning to daily life.
