New Residence Opens for Young Adults with Special Needs in Bnei Brak

A mezuzah-hanging ceremony was held yesterday at the "Beit HaDassim" residence in Bnei Brak, a new housing facility operated by the "Ohel Sarah" organization for young adults with high-functioning special needs. The apartment, located in a new building on Ha'Etzel Street, has been specifically adapted to the residents' needs and serves as their home year-round. "Beit HaDassim" joins dozens of similar residences run by Ohel Sarah throughout Bnei Brak, offering residents a holistic support system including guidance and leisure activities aimed at promoting their development and potential.

Rabbi Avraham Yosef, the chief rabbi of Holon, attended the ceremony at the request of the residents. He affixed the mezuzah and addressed the residents, their families, and the staff, emphasizing the importance of Ohel Sarah's work, particularly its housing program, in providing a supportive home environment. "A beautiful apartment expands a person's mind, and here the significant investment is evident in making the apartment beautiful both physically and in its content and spirit, for the benefit of the residents' progress," Rabbi Yosef stated. He added, "How much reward awaits you in heaven. This is true self-sacrifice for the benefit of others and for the integration of these young adults into social life."

Malka Weinberg, director of Ohel Sarah, expressed her gratitude to Rabbi Yosef for attending and supporting the residents. "Opening another home is much more than just moving into a new apartment for us. This is a home where the residents live all year, develop, strengthen, and build their lives," she said. She expressed hope that the new year would bring more moments of growth, joy, and success for the residents.
