Israeli Settler Refuses Compliance, Faces Jail Time Over Administrative Order

A Jerusalem Magistrate's Court ordered Tal Yinon Dardik, an Israeli settler, to remain in custody until the conclusion of legal proceedings against him. The decision followed Dardik's refusal to commit to complying with the terms of an administrative order issued by Central Command General Avi Bluth.

Dardik was arrested after the prosecution department of the Judea and Samaria District Police filed an indictment against him shortly after his detention for investigation. The indictment alleges that Dardik violated the explicit conditions of the administrative order by failing to report to the police station in Modi'in Illit twice daily for signature.

During the court hearing, Dardik explicitly stated his refusal to guarantee future compliance with the order. He declared, "I will not cooperate with this draconian and offensive order from the commander, Avi Bluth. This is a struggle not only over my order, but over the persecution of dozens of settlers against whom Avi Bluth is issuing administrative orders." He further asserted that the orders are intended to facilitate the evacuation of settlements and outposts, claiming that settlers in Judea and Samaria are uniquely targeted with such orders in Israel.

Dardik vowed to resist, stating, "I am going to a struggle against this. I do not agree to fulfill the order, I will sit in jail and not sign that I am willing to fulfill this absurd order. We must stop Avi Bluth's persecution of the settlement enterprise."

Dardik's attorney, Nati Rom from the Honenu organization, opposed the police's request for continued detention. Rom questioned the severity of the measure, asking the prosecution, "Since when is someone who doesn't sign at a police station arrested until the end of proceedings?"
