Herzog Visits Cyprus, Hopes for Lebanon Meeting

Israeli President Isaac Herzog arrived in Cyprus on Thursday, September 10th, for a state visit. He was welcomed at the Presidential Palace by Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides, and the two leaders held a political meeting followed by an expanded bilateral session.

During their discussions, Herzog and Christodoulides focused on deepening cooperation and strengthening relations between Israel and Cyprus. President Herzog expressed his aspiration for a future meeting involving the presidents of Israel, Cyprus, and Lebanon in Cyprus. "My dream is that one day we can meet here, the President of Lebanon, the President of Cyprus, and the President of Israel," Herzog stated. He added, "I hope we can fulfill such a dream, because I believe we must move towards peace in the region, while ensuring that terror is rejected and distanced, and that we allow the peoples and countries in the region to prosper together, for the well-being of the region and the entire world."

President Christodoulides noted that the talks would address ways to deepen the strategic partnership between the two nations, as well as regional developments and the potential for joint action with other like-minded countries. He also highlighted a record number of flights from Israel to Cyprus during the summer, exceeding 200 weekly flights compared to a previous average of around 140.

President Herzog is scheduled to return to Israel at the conclusion of his visit to the Presidential Palace.
