New Electric Vehicle Charging Stations Enhance Holiday Travel in Israel
As Israelis prepare for holiday travel, owners of electric vehicles (EVs) face the challenge of planning long journeys, especially with children. Traditionally, the route south to Eilat via the Negev Desert offered limited charging options, with Mitzpe Ramon often being the sole convenient stop. However, Amisragreen has recently expanded the charging infrastructure along this route, introducing new fast-charging stations that offer greater flexibility and opportunities for unique stops.
One significant new location is the Ovot Junction charging complex, situated on the Arava Road before the Hazeva junction. This facility, operated by Amisragreen, can charge eight vehicles simultaneously. Travelers can utilize their charging time to visit the nearby "Crocoloco" crocodile farm for a guided tour, or for those seeking a longer stay, nearby glamping and rural lodging options offer stargazing experiences.
Another new station is located at Ein Hazeva, approximately one kilometer from Ovot Junction. This Amisragreen facility provides fast charging for up to four vehicles concurrently. It features a convenience store, restrooms, and shaded seating, making it an ideal spot for a coffee break and stocking up for the remainder of the journey. These new charging infrastructures are designed to handle high demand, with some stations backed by energy storage systems and solar panels to ensure continuous charging even during peak times.
Yarden Bar-Nes, CEO and co-owner of Amisragreen, highlighted the company's commitment to supporting holiday travelers. "We are very happy to announce to electric vehicle drivers that we are deployed with ultra-fast charging stations along the road, all with the option of payment by credit card and also via the app," he stated. The company has installed stations along Israel's longest road, Route 90, which spans nearly 500 kilometers.
Travelers heading north also benefit from new charging solutions. Amisragreen has installed a new charging station at Kibbutz Ein Gev on the eastern shore of the Sea of Galilee, capable of charging up to six vehicles simultaneously. This location allows visitors to enjoy the Ein Gev promenade, dine at local restaurants, or visit the ancient Susita archaeological site for panoramic views of the lake, especially recommended during the afternoon and sunset.
To ensure a smooth EV journey, it is advised to treat charging stations as part of the travel plan, choosing stops with added attractions. Starting journeys in the early morning or late afternoon can help avoid traffic and benefit the battery, which charges more efficiently in cooler temperatures. It's also recommended to charge only up to 80% at fast chargers, as charging beyond that point significantly slows down, saving valuable time.
