New Ultra-Fast Electric Vehicle Charging Stations Open in Galilee at Daphna'leh Complex

A new electric vehicle (EV) charging station complex has been inaugurated at Daphna'leh, located at the entrance to Kibbutz Daphna in northern Israel's Galilee region. The facility features ten charging points, including four ultra-fast chargers capable of delivering up to 200 kW and six AC chargers at 22 kW. The project cost over half a million shekels and is part of the larger Daphna'leh tourism and leisure complex, which was developed with a 14 million shekel investment by the Galilee Development Company and Kibbutz Daphna.

The opening of the charging stations was delayed due to security concerns amid recent fighting in the north, with the complex initially planned to open in November 2023. It reopened about two and a half months ago following a ceasefire announcement. To encourage EV use, SCALA, the operator of the stations, announced a special discounted rate for DC fast charging at 2 shekels per kWh (including VAT) throughout August, down from the regular 2.70 shekels per kWh.

The Daphna'leh complex emphasizes preserving the rural Galilean character through eco-friendly building materials and single-story structures surrounding a central lawn and garden area. Current tenants include several food and retail businesses such as Julan Bakery, Pizza Truck, Buza Ice Cream, Klompos Restaurant, a new NAOT shoe store, and a plant nursery, with more businesses expected to join soon.

SCALA manages approximately 200 charging complexes across Israel, offering around 250 fast and ultra-fast charging points and 600 slower chargers. Their service is accessible via a user-friendly app that also allows customers to purchase charging packages.
